Geneseo/Atkinson Food Pantry Updates

September 2020 Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry Newsletter

We are currently accepting food, clothing, and household donations on Mondays from 9-12 and 1-4. Please leave your donations in the carts located outside our doors. Our clothing room is also open to shoppers on Mondays from 9-12 and 1-4. We suggest clients call us at 944-3165 before they arrive as our policies have changed due to Covid-19. Food distribution is on Tuesdays from 9-11:30. If you need other to make other arrangements please call us. We will remain closed all other hours.

School began on August 13 and our clients’ children were provided with brand new school supplies, backpacks, socks, underwear, and shoes thanks to the caring donations from our community! Your thoughtfulness makes a big difference in the lives of the families we serve.

As fall approaches our clients will be in need of lightweight jackets, long sleeve shirts, and jeans. A large number of families and individuals use the items donated by the community to reduce the cost of clothing for their children.

Our volunteer of the month, Sandy Hannah, has been volunteering at the Food Pantry for 6 ½ years. She volunteers in the clothing room and helps sort clothing, linens, and housewares. Sandy’s hobbies are reading and spending time with family. Sandy says the best thing about volunteering at the Food Pantry is working with the other volunteers. They laugh and have a good time together and enjoy getting to know the clients. Sandy’s most memorable experience at the Food Pantry is the generosity of the community. She is amazed by the generosity not only during the holidays, but all year long.

The Food Pantry will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Food needs for the month of September are: powdered sugar, brown sugar, microwave popcorn, single serve oatmeal, and unsweetened cereal.

Non-food needs are: antibacterial wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dish soap.

Thank you,  Jolynn
