Last Day of E-Learning

Last Day of E-Learning

As you are probably aware, Governor Pritzker closed schools for the remainder of the school year. Please read the direct communication from the Office of Catholic Schools below:

“All diocesan schools’ remote learning will cease as of May 15, 2020, as this will be considered the end of e-learning instructional days for the Diocese of Peoria. “ (OCS)

As a result, May 15th will be St. Malachy School’s last day of school/E-Learning.

“If the Governor and State Board come out with any new guidance about how to count instructional days during the pandemic, OCS may need to change the May 15th date.” (OCS)

At some point, we plan to schedule a pick up/drop off date for school supplies, library books, chromebooks, textbooks, etc. The Diocese will provide further guidance regarding the process and timeline for these end of year tasks in the coming week.

Ms. Vandemore and I are discussing how we will recognize our 6th grade students. We typically honor them at the annual 6th grade Mass, and we will share more information about an alternate plan once we have finalized details.

We have received no further information from the Diocese in regard to Sacraments. At this time, I do not know when the Bishop plans to reopen our churches.

Thank you,

Heather Francque
