Monday, Jan. 29 – Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Our Community

Mr. Bob Pettit, a longtime parishioner and businessman in our community, will be our guest speaker at 9:00 a.m. in the Hall. He will speak to the students about how he lives his faith in everyday life.

     


Tuesday, Jan. 30 – Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Our Students

 

St. Malachy School 5th and 6th Grade students will present a “Character Day/Wax Museum” in the Hall from 8-10 a.m. This will be an open house type of format. Prior to this day, students research a person in history. They will transform into this character in a wax museum setting and present their research to the student body. St. Malachy families are invited to attend, including grandparents and relatives.

   


Wednesday, Jan 31 - Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Our Nation


There will be a special Catholic Schools Week School Mass at 9:00 a.m. Prayers for those serving in our military and for our President, Congress and Nation will be incorporated into the Mass. St. Malachy School students, faculty and staff will be encouraged to wear red, white and blue clothing to school to demonstrate their patriotism. Students will sing a patriotic song after Mass. Military veterans, active service members, and relatives are invited to attend.


Stevens Puppets will present a fairy-tale classic, “The Sleeping Beauty,” featuring hand-carved wooden marionettes in front of colorfully hand-painted scenery at 1:45 p.m. in the church.




Thursday, February 1 - Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Vocations

Teachers will discuss in their classrooms what it means to enter into a vocation. Staff and students will send a care package and write letters to our “adopted” seminarian. Students may dress in Holy Spirit wear, such as a t-shirt with a Bible verse, or possibly a shirt that represents a charity or event that is meaningful to them. 



Friday, February 3rd - Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Our Faculty, Staff & Volunteers

The 5th and 6th Grade students will participate in our annual St. Malachy School Spelling Bee at 12:30 p.m. in the Church. The winner will represent St. Malachy School at the Regional Spelling Bee at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.

2nd grade students will have a Flat Stanley presentation in the church hall. St. Malachy families and church parishioners are invited to attend from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

     


Sunday, February 4th - Faith, Knowledge and Service: Celebrating Our Parish

An Open House will be held in the school from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. St. Malachy School Parents Club will serve refreshments in the school. Parents of prospective students are invited to attend. Members of the parish, grandparents and parents are also invited. There will be a special Catholic Schools Week Mass at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. St. Malachy School Choir will sing at this Mass. Our sixth grade students will do the Readings, and serve as gift bearers.
